FLS110 evaluation kit wins top marks in element14 road tests
10/03/23
Flusso’s FLS110 flow sensor evaluation kit has recently been independently reviewed by the element14 engineering community and given five star ratings for its out of box experience, ease of use and the quality of its software.
The evaluation kit has been specifically designed to help users quickly evaluate the FLS110’s performance and capabilities for themselves within their own application. It has a USB interface and a companion PC app so users can connect everything together and be logging flow and temperature data on their laptop within minutes.
Five engineers were each given an FLS110 evaluation kit and invited to road test it within their own development laboratories using only Flusso’s support documentation and online tutorials. The FLS110 can be used to measure mass flow, volume flow, airspeed or differential pressure.
The detailed reviews included comments such as:
Calling all designers and development engineers, if you need a compact flow meter the FLS110 is for you! It’s ideal for use in space-constrained designs. Overall performance with the evaluation kit was within limits, as expected… and a DP transmitter connected inline gave similar readings.
Hassan Ajami, VP/lead technical officer at PCI Vetrix LLC
It’s a great product which is really easy to use. All the connections were very intuitive. And it worked the first time I connected everything together to my desktop. [Flusso] has even provided guidance on how to use the evaluation kit within your application and with design ideas too.
Aaryan Arora, Delhi Technological University
The FLS110 was less noisy [in comparison with a differential pressure sensor]… and we were able to obtain an error of less than 2% on the three litre syringe volume in our test system.
Professor Roberto Quintal, Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, México
In Professor Quintal’s road test, his R&D team compared the performance of the FLS110 mass flow sensor against the MPX5010 DP sensor from NXP within a pneumotachograph medical device. Read a comprehensive summary of the road test here.
The FLS110 evaluation kit arrives pre-calibrated to the flow fixture that’s included within it. Professor Quintal noted that the FLS110 can be re-calibrated for other test systems, which is what he did, but that a flow controller and reference flow meter are required to do this.
In production, the FLS110 has been specifically designed for use in high-volume, cost-sensitive markets and with a range of calibration options so users can control the cost of calibration versus the accuracy required. In many cases this means companies can achieve an accuracy better than a pre-calibrated solution and at a lower cost too.
