Flusso shortlisted for Elektra 21 award
Flusso shortlisted for Elektra 21 award
Flusso has been nominated as Start-up Electronics Business of the Year at this year’s Elektra awards, the ‘Oscars’ of the electronics industry. The final winners will be announced in December at an event in London.
The Start-up Electronics Business of the Year award is one of most hotly contested categories each year. Companies need to have set up their operations in Europe within the last five years and to demonstrate they are building their businesses for future success in global markets. Flusso is one of two Cambridge-based companies in the running for this year’s top prize.
The judging panel for the 2021 competition includes: Andy Sellars, chief business development officer CSA Catapult; Adam Fletcher, chairman and CEO of Electronic Components Supply Network; and Roger Thornton, principal hardware engineer at Raspberry Pi.
Flusso has included a number of named customer quotes as part of its written submission to the judges.
Customers were asked to rate the FLS110 flow sensor versus competitive products and made comments such as the FLS110 being the only air and gas flow sensor:
- ‘capable of readings at the speed my product requires’;
- offering ‘better performance and with other gases too, such as helium and hydrogen’; and
- covering a ‘full flow range’, whereas an existing sensor from an established competitor suffered from accuracy problems at high flow.
The Elektra awards were founded 19 years ago to recognise and reward individuals, design teams, products and companies for their contribution to the global electronics industry. Other award categories include Semiconductor Product of the Year, Design Team of the Year, and a Lifetime Achievement prize.
The awards are run by Electronics Weekly, a weekly UK trade publication for electronics professionals that was first published in 1960.
